A winter storm watch has been issued in the Twin Cities, where heavy snow is expected to fall across much of Sunday, while strong winds could bring blizzard conditions to central parts of Minnesota.

‘Powerful’ storms packing high winds, snow, falling temps expected to hit region
“Across the Midwest and Great Lakes between Sunday and Monday, a powerful storm will take shape,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham. “The storm will bring risks for heavy snow, ice, severe thunderstorms, powerful wind gusts and heavy rain.”

"An impactful storm system will move into Michigan Sunday into early next week, with accumulating snow, strong winds, and blowing snow," the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids said on Facebook. "The best chances for heavy snow will be across the Upper Peninsula, and the snow belts of lower Michigan.
In the Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island areas, the Weather Service predicted 6 to 11 inches. Forecasts called for the snowfall to begin to peak overnight and then taper off early Saturday.
