De-matting 5-Step Method: Step 2 Use a pin brush with very thick pins (our next "largest" tool). The "Ice Slip Brush" from Chris Christensen has really short, very thick pins that are rounded and gentle on the coat. This helps you to start to break up the matt and see the skin. Just a reminder that here our goal is to dematt and preserve the coat. When matts do happen on show dogs we can try to preserve as much coat as possible, whereas severely matted dogs that go into a grooming salon may need
